Curtis And The Stripped Bass

This is my attempt to change a 2D photo to a 3D photo using Photo Shop, Crazy Talk 5, AVS Video Editor, and After Effects. I thought someone might get a kick out of it.

Iguana in Concentric Boxes - 2009. This was done for an art project in a color theory class that I took at The Art Institution in Las Vegas. The teacher was impressed enough to keep it for the display case at The Art Institute. It was done in colored pencils including the black and white box.

Hi everyone - I have been very busy now that I am taking classes at The Art Institute in Las
Vegas. This is a self-portrait using fonts that have been scaled, rotated, skewed, and sometimes
made bold or italic. My signature is not my real signature, but I used this technique as well. It was a project for a design class. I used font characters such as "J", "C", "-", ".", "(", "|", ",", "V", and "/". Different font types were used such as, Arial, VTKS mural, Tiger Rag LETRegular, Papyrus, Gunny Handwriting, Leter Gothic Std Medium, and Brush Stroke Plain. I hope you enjoy.

The Loner

The Loner - 1975. In 1975, a college friend invited me to attend an art class with him. I came and asked the teacher if it would be okay to sit in. He reluctantly said that it was okay but I felt a little uneasy because of the vibe I was getting from him. He invited a local recluse to sit and model outside for us - as seen in the photo. We only had about 40 minutes to draw. I drew these two drawings you see here. The students were impressed with my work, but the teacher was not. He said the drawings were rubbish, that I spent too much time with the busy detail. I found that the model was interesting because of his weathered look, straggly hair, and beard. I wanted to illustrate this.

Noah - December 2008. Well I'm finally back Drawing. This is from an old photo of an ancestor of mine. It really should be a painted. It's hard to draw a white beard. What do you think?

Title: Dress Shirts -November 2008. This is an experiment with Photo Shop and Paint Shop. The above photo is the original. I intend to make a drawing of it. I'm trying to portray the right feel in an impressionistic style. I wanted to eliminate the busy background and increase the contrast. I want the focus to be on the shirts and the cut hair.

This is a colorized photo of the wife of the man in the last post. It was not as damaged as the photo of her husband. I can't decide if I like the first final or the last colorful final. What do you think? In this retouching I also used Paint Shop. The soften and push tools are the best tools in Paint Shop for retouching. I have never used Photo Shop before.

This is a colorized photo of my wife's ancestor. It was found along with his wife's colorized photo underneath a mobile home with mold on it. I scanned both of them, but it was a hard task because the pigment on them were crumbling and they were bulged-out oval hard backed works. I used Paint Shop to make the transformation. It still needs some work.

Swinging - November 2008. This is my first attempt at drawing since I left art 25 years ago. Because I have worked many undesirable jobs to support my family, I basically had very little time for art, photography, and other forms of recreation. It’s not a very good drawing. I had a lot of trouble controlling the shading of my pencil. I hope that practice as well as maybe purchasing better drawing pencils and paper will help.
